On September 10, 2026, Salesforce published its framing for a Salesforce Enterprise AI Harness—a Trusted Enterprise AI Harness with six capabilities plus a new AI Control Plane. For U.S. SMB founders already paying for Salesforce, Agentforce, Data 360, or MuleSoft, the announcement is useful only if you can translate architecture slides into a buy / wait / govern decision.

Facts below come from Salesforce’s primary announcement. What Salesforce announced (fact)

In Salesforce Introduces the Trusted Enterprise AI Harness, Salesforce describes a composable architecture that gives AI a shared understanding of the customer and the business and enables it to act with trust. The harness brings together six trusted capabilities—Trusted Context, Trusted Agency, Trusted Action, Trusted Governance, Trusted Security, and Trusted Models—delivered through a common architecture. Alongside them, Salesforce introduces a new AI Control Plane so businesses can see, manage, and control agents and AI as they spread across the enterprise.

Fact (availability language). Salesforce states that many of the technologies that form the foundation of the Trusted Enterprise AI Harness are available today, with new capabilities and the unified experience planned to begin rolling out in early fiscal FY28. Additional details on availability, packaging, pricing, and upgrade paths will be announced closer to general availability. Pricing and packaging are subject to change; availability may vary by region and is governed by customer agreements. Softix will not invent GA dates, SKUs, or list prices beyond that language.

Fact (building blocks named). Salesforce says it is drawing on core technologies from across Data 360, Informatica, MuleSoft and Agent Fabric, Tableau, Agentforce, Salesforce Guardian, and the Salesforce Platform through a common, composable architecture and unified experience. Existing customers get an upgrade path for eligible investments as capabilities become available. Customers can use the six capabilities together or take only what they need—including third-party models, agents, and systems.

Step 1 — Scope: what you already own vs what is roadmap

Start from contracts and admin consoles—not from Dreamforce keynotes.

  1. Data / context layer — Do you use Data 360 (or predecessor Customer Data Platform capabilities), Tableau semantics, or Informatica-related assets Salesforce referenced?   2. Agency and agents — What Agentforce (or related agent) experiences are live today? Who owns prompts, grounding data, and escalation to humans?
  3. Action fabric — Which APIs, MuleSoft / Agent Fabric flows, and Salesforce Platform automations can an agent invoke? Trusted Action is only as safe as the integrations behind it.
  4. Governance and security — Where do lineage, quality, guardrails, identity, permissions, privacy, and runtime security live today (Salesforce Guardian, platform sharing rules, Shield, your IdP)?
  5. Models — Which models are allowed, who pays for inference, and can you route by accuracy / cost as Trusted Models describes?
  6. Control Plane readiness — Can you already discover/register agents, assign identity/policy, observe outcomes, and see cost—even if the “new AI Control Plane” unified experience is still rolling out?

Fact (six capabilities, paraphrased from Salesforce). Trusted Context grounds AI in governed enterprise data. Trusted Agency combines flexible reasoning with deterministic controls. Trusted Action connects AI to apps, APIs, workflows, and processes. Trusted Governance covers lineage, quality, guardrails, and controls over data/metadata/policies/processes. Trusted Security applies identity, permissions, privacy, data protection, and runtime security. Trusted Models supports connecting and routing the right model for each job based on accuracy, performance, cost, and business requirements.

Softix judgment. If your Scope sheet shows strong Data 360 + MuleSoft + Agentforce foundations but weak agent inventory and no cost owner, you are not “behind on the Harness”—you are behind on Control. Buying more announcement features will not fix an unowned agent sprawl.

Step 2 — Harness: use foundations now, don’t fake FY28 GA

Salesforce’s openness framing matters for SMB buyers: the harness is described as headless and accessible through technologies including MCP, APIs, Skills, and Plug-ins, extending into experiences such as Claude, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Agentforce, and other AI surfaces. That is not permission to turn every channel into a write-capable agent next week.

Step 3 — Control: registry, policy, cost—before brand loyalty

Fact (AI Control Plane). Salesforce describes the AI Control Plane as a common place to discover and register agents and AI capabilities, establish identity and policy, manage lifecycle, evaluate performance, observe behavior and outcomes, and control cost—across Salesforce and third-party AI.
